NJGUIDETTE from the 70's

I am an njguidette from the seventies.  Let me tell you a little about what it was like back then.  We had the best time living in a shore house with a bunch of girls in Ortley Beach. It was always a lot of fun because we were crazy.  We were six girls who slept in 2 bedrooms and shared one bathroom.  By day we use to do go the beach to work on our tans, or we went crabbing or to the boardwalk.

By night it was off to the surf club.  It was the best place to be!  We couldn't wait to get dressed and walk over there.  The line usually wrapped around the building. The girls were beautiful and the guys were gorgeous.  It seemed so long to get to the door and by the time I arrived at the door I would have such butterflies in the pit of my stomach. Once we were inside we would head straight for the bathroom checking out our hair and making sure our makeup looked good.  Every once in a while you would hear girls talking about a gorgeous guy they saw.

Afterwards we went straight to the bar.  Some really popular drinks were 7 and 7, gin and tonic, bloody mary, rye and club, scotch on the rocks.  Shots of tequila came at the end of the night and they would usually get you hammered so we watched that because if you got too drunk you would miss all the fun.

Dancing in couples was very popular.  Everyone knew how to hustle, some better than others.  You would hope that a good "hustler" would ask you to dance and if he did you were ready to put on a show.  If you were great everyone watched.  I must say though that after all those spins you thought you were going to faint, but you did your best because it was part of being "cool."  Line dancing was also very popular, there were several and they were a lot of fun.

High platform glitter shoes, a sharp funky outfit, a thick belt worn possibly around the hips was cool to wear.  Most of the guys were really sharp.  The really sharp ones had on an Italian knit with baggy pleated pants, shiny shoes and not a hair out of place. You had to have the look of a true guido and we all had it.  We partied like rockstars -- there were no excuses!

This web site brought back all these wonderful memories I have about hanging out at the Surf Club in the 70's. I must admit though that you guys really rule. We thought we were the best yet it seems we couldn't hold a candle to you.  No one back then was so much into their bodies  - well maybe a few - like you are.  You guys are like Roman warriors all buffed and tanned and the girls are all sheer beauties.  It is obvious that your friendships have grown and that you take care of each other.

The music was great in the 70's.  Songs like Boogie Oggie Oggie, Do Ya Wanna Funk With Me, Last Dance, LaFemme, Ring My Bell, Stomp, I'll Always love My Manna, September, were some greats just to name a few.  Now I see that you guys like Shinny Disco Balls, Soulshaker, YouGottaBelieve, Trespasser, etc.  I believe you have given a whole new meaning to Disco Songs.  I understand that the energy is spinning out of control.  I am glad we were able to set you guys up to be good "partiers."

Just like the Moo wiping a tear from his eye when he left his shore house in 2000, I to remember doing the same in 1975.  It was a real bummer.  This website keeps the soul alive: You Gotta Believe that you are a Soulshaker Safe From Harm and when you Just Won't Do, No Ones' Gonna Change You.  Look In Your Eyes and feel Your Heart Beat cause you didn't do it for Dirty Cash or for Trippin you did it to Release Yourself and Find Love at First Sight and you found that Perfect Love in 2002.

This website is awesome!  Keep up the good work!  Moo of NJGUIDO is a genius!  THERE ARE NO EXCUSES! PARTY LIKE A ROCKSTAR!  And don't stop because the years go by to quickly.  Be responsible and enjoy yourselves!
