Casey a Greenwich Guido

First of all, much props to Moo. Prior to Moo getting the medicine ball
rolling on this website people like myself were not taken seriously by a
majority of the "uptight pencil pushers" in wealthy suburban areas. As a
young kid growing up in the Greenwich area, I had a hard time finding my
niche. While kids were playing golf and a variety of raquet sports I was on
my dirt bike watching "crusty demons of dirt"- the ultimate off road
motorcross tape. In addition I always loved working out and fixing my dads
vintage car. However, as I entered high school a lot of my friends seemed to
alienate me because I wasn't big on doing  the country club thing and
wearing a blazer to parties. As a result I found a lot of people like me in
a neighboring town- Portchester.  While in high school I would hang out with
these guys- ride bikes, fix cars, and work out. Instead of going to clicky
parties and debutante balls we would hit the local beaches and cruise for
talent. We were known as the Porto Pack crew and while a lot of people I
grew up with thought we were a joke, all the girls and their moms loved us.
One time we were playing shuffle board at a local bar and these two guys in
Nantucket red pants came up to me and my friend Shep. They were like "those
girls in the corner are staring at you guys because they have never seen
guidos before". My boy shep hit one of these guys over the head and
proceeded to get us kicked out of the bar.  Although we did not know it,
that night back in 1995 turned out to be the best night of our lives because
although we got in some trouble, it caused us to leave Greenwich and find a
place where there were more people like us.
With no job and a summer ahead of us, me and the boyz decided to do
landscaping for one of my uncles in spring Lake, New Jersey. At first I was
like "this is Greenwich all over again". However, what we soon found out is
that there were a couple of beach towns down the shore that were packed with
people like us.  My first juant down to seaside heights was awesome. Shep
and I met these 2 hotties from Rye who also just happened to stumble upon
Seaside by accident. After telling them stories about where we grew up these
girls(marisa and Marianne) told us they were known as the Guidettes in town
because they drove cars with tinted windows. In addition to having a lot in
common, the mood was just right.....tons of energy. People were friendly and
did not try to be somethng they weren't. We called it "guido Nation" and it
really was. When I walked into Tempts the song blasting was Mr. Vain....I
can still hear it beating in y head "I know what I want and I want it
now...I want you cause I'm mr Vain". Did about 10 shots and partied my head
off.
Its been 7 years since my first trip down to Temptations and I always go
down for 2 weeks every summer. My grlfriend and I own a local gym in Byram,
New york but we still find time to get down to Belmar and Seaside heights.
For those who haven't been...you can't begin to understand. Walking into
tempts is like being introduced in the superbowl...the butterflies are in
the stomach...high fiving...getting your A game on. Ths website is awesome
and a great idea on your part Moo. Keep up the great work Bro.
